Life Coaching for New Parents: Support Beyond What Family and Friends Can Give

  • Early on, usually within two or three weeks, the main shift is clarity. You can name what's wrong instead of feeling generally crushed. "I am underwater with logistics" becomes "I have no handoff at 5 p.m. and no one owns dinner," and a named problem is a solvable one.

  • By around week six, the structural changes start holding. A recurring handoff time. One evening a week that belongs to each partner. Food in the house that requires no assembly. The logistics conversation happening on a set day so it stops ambushing you at bedtime.

  • Later, somewhere past two months, the identity piece starts moving. Not dramatically. You notice you laughed at something. You want to see a friend and you arrange it without it becoming a negotiation. You stop narrating your own competence to yourself as evidence. That's the outcome that matters most and it's the slowest to arrive, which is worth knowing before you start so you don't quit at week four thinking nothing changed.
